  1. READ Lake Wales 2021 Challenge

    May 1, 2021, All Day

    The Lake Wales Public Library invites adults, age 18+ to participate in the READ Lake Wales 2021 Challenge. Participants must be a card holder from the Polk County Library Cooperative. The Challenge requires that adults complete 50 books between 1/4/21 and 12/10/21. Print, ebook, and audio books are all accepted. Books read before 1/4 are not eligible. Participants may request an official Reading Log from the LWPL. Reading logs may be picked up, requested to be mailed to you, or request a fillable pdf book log via email. Each entry must include a brief comment, review, or overview of each book. Must include name and contact info. Once 50 books are read and entered in the reading log, return the completed reading log in person, by mail, or email to the LWPL. Logs must be returned no later than 4pm, 12/10/21 to be eligible for the prize drawings. Drawing will be held at 5pm, 12/10/21. Several prizes will be awarded, including a grand prize of a $200 Visa Gift Card.

  1. Groundbreaking Ceremony - Keystone Challenge Fund affordable housing build

    On May 1st there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the Keystone Challenge Fund affordable housing build. It will take place at 10:30am on B Street (Lot 5 and 6 directly across from B Street Community Center). The address is 230 B Street, Lake Wales, FL 33853. This project is the construction of two affordable houses for families who meet certain criteria. This project is a partnership between six entities: The City of Lake Wales, Lake Wales CRA, Keystone Challenge Fund, Green and Gold Foundation, Polk County, and CenterState Bank. Addressing the need for affordable housing was a goal identified by the Lake Wales CRA as part of its Lake Wales Connected Plan. This will help revitalize the northwest neighborhood which is also part of the Lake Wales Connected Plan. For further information please contact Keystone Challenge Fund- 863.682.1025 – Ext 7.
